Abstract


Squamous cell carcinoma of the bladder is a rare pathological variant of the disease, particularly in patients who have received a kidney allograft. This paper brings the case of a 60-year-old male patient with a history of ESRD and a kidney transplant in 1982 who, at 34 years after immunosuppressive therapy, was diagnosed with SCC of the bladder at the ureterovesical junction of the transplanted kidney, as we know this is the third reported case in the literature. The given patient complained about the increasing severity of suprapubic pain along with dysuria; ultrasonography showed a mass in the bladder. Pathological examination confirmed SCC. This paper focuses on understanding how bladder SCC develops, diagnosing the disease, and treating it among kidney transplant patients. Further, it contrasts with other reported cases in the literature in relation to this case to call for routine follow-up and early diagnosis in patients with transplants
